This resort was a bit of an enigma to me. That is…until I went. I mean, I didn’t even understand the
name. The Fives is symbolic of the 5 senses. Sight, sound, smell, touch, and taste. And all of those senses
will be in for a treat!

I stayed in a 1 Bedroom Residence and was blown away at the space and size of the room! It was more
like an apartment. Full kitchen with stove, fridge, dishwasher, dining area and living space, and private
bedroom with soaking tub and private water closet. Modern, light, and breezy best describe the room.

Located outside of Playa del Carmen with rich foliage and jungle surroundings, this beachfront, all-inclusive resort is such a treat. I like to describe it as “where contemporary meets Mexico”.

With 662 rooms, one, two and three-bedroom suites, this resort has something for everyone. The lobby
is quiet and unassuming, and sets the tone for the rest of the resort.

The grounds of this resort are lush and tropical. Built around a now dry cenote, the wooden walking
path that will take you to the far side of the resort is purely enchanting! They pipe ancient flute music
along the pathway as you are greeted by the resident monkeys and caotis. The walk is truly therapeutic
and relaxing!

At the end of that wooden path is the section that houses the adult-only pool. One of 5 pools on the
resort. One afternoon they brought some snacks to us as we lounged in the water. This cute little cast
iron pan with… fried crickets! Yes, I tried one. Then several more. They were simply delicious if you can
get past eating an insect! The main infinity pool is beachfront so you can float and see the ocean at the
same time.

The beach at this resort is lovely with a beautiful little pier that juts out into the ocean. The white sand
beach is dotted with palm trees and ample seating. A beach snack shack is close by if you need that
afternoon burger. With 10 restaurants on the property, there is something for every palette.

Reservations are not required but suggested, and can be made any time after your arrival with the
Resort Ambassadors that you will find walking throughout the resort. 5 bars/lounges are available for
your libation fixation, and again…like the resort…range from uber contemporary, like the Gin Bar, to the
quaint Cantina 1910, with it’s true Mexican flair and tiles.

This resort has become a favorite for so many reasons, but the top reason: The staff. Their staff are
incredibly warm and make you truly feel like you are home. Excellent food, beautiful surroundings and
the perfect blend of energy and chill.
