Happy Couple Spotlight: Madelyn & Harrison

How did you meet?

Harrison and I met at the gym I worked at my senior year of high school. We met my first day on the job he wakes in when I was on my phone and was quick to make a comment to me about being the new receptionist. He was friends with all of my coworkers and we quickly became inseparable.

What made you decide to have a Destination Wedding?

We decided to have a destination wedding because we love to travel and so many people had told us that they had wished they would’ve done a destination. We wanted to have a smaller and more intimate wedding while still feeling like we were including everyone we wanted to invite and leaving the choice up to them if they could make it or not.

Once the planning started, was there anything that surprised you?

There are so many details and additions that we never thought of when starting the wedding planning process, definitely communicate with your significant other to see what major details they want and think about what you want so you can make sure your incorporating both things. Save your Pinterest boards, the resort takes into account exactly what your vision looks like and will make it a reality. There will be things that change and things you will need to add last minute so definitely account for those things in your budget as well.

Was there a thing or two you splurged on that you are now happy you did?

We definitely splurged on a dance floor, we chose the highest package because we love a party and the light up dance floor with fireworks was too amazing not to pass up. Another thing we feel was a bit of a splurge was the platform to walk down the aisle at our ceremony so people could still wear shoes and heels without falling over in the sand.

Any advice for a future destination wedding couple?

Definitely be patient when communicating with the resort, they take their time and you may have to be over communicative but it will all workout in your favor and you won’t have to life a finger upon arrival. Also if there are any small decor details you are really wanting on your big day bring them, I made custom napkins, table numbers, a guest book and gifts for all of our guest to add the perfect custom touch and I loved every detail, you can give all of those things to your coordinator upon arrival and they take care of it all for you. Do your research on resort and outside vendors such as photographer and hair and makeup, we used outside vendors that were local and lived near by and I think it was one of the best decisions they were amazing (resort charges a fee for outside vendors but so worth it in our opinion).

How was your experience with Playa Bella Weddings and Travel and would you recommend our services?

Our experience with Lori and the Playa Bella weddings and travel was phenomenal, from the moment we first met with Lori over zoom she was attentive and very knowledgeable. She helped us secure our room block with the resort quickly as well as set up and amazing website for our guests to use when booking to provide a quick and convenient booking process. She was very helpful when communicating with the resort and pushing them to get quicker responses when needed. I could not recommend her enough, we enjoyed every second of planning with her!
